I called what I thought was a norton tech support line as well but was actually calling GuruAid. I had the FBI Moneypak virus and couldn't access my computer.

After following their instructions about going to the F8 menu and selecting "repair computer" they restored my computer to a week earlier. I was then allowed to get access my computer. Then the representative took control of my computer and was telling me that I am still infected and I need to pay him $170 to clean up the computer. After simply replying no, he dropped the price to $130.

After saying no again, he tried $100. Again i replied no, and I disconnected his remote access into my computer and he screamed "YOU HAVE WASTED ALL OUR TIME, NEVER CALL BACK!" horrible customer service and such a huge rip off because simply restoring my computer worked just fine!!

BIG FUCKYOU TO GURUAID! THIEVES!

GuruAid will take your money, waste your time, infect your computer. Please stay away from it. I can't understand why they are not arrested by some higher authorities.

I agree. It's a ripoff that they expect you to pay for services that any tech savvy friend or family member would do for just a meal or for FREE.

I recently called them for help with my internet browser to locate a few items that seemed to have disappeared and they gave me the same speech about "programs not working" and my computer "being slow", then tried to sell me on their maintenance packages while remotely working my desktop.

All I wanted was to know where the items on my browser were! I never asked for repairs or offers!

I immediately ended the control and conversation lest they try to infect my computer or charge me something. ***, GuruAid!
